Romantic comedy about a bickering couple who take a magic potion which gives them amnesia and the chance to fall in love with each other all over again. Starring Robert Taylor and Greer Garson
Lew Ayres introduces his fiancée Greer Garson to his best friend Robert Taylor over lunch, whereupon friend sweeps her away and marries her, setting in train a series of events encompassing everything from divorce to amnesia-inducing potions. This must surely be one of the most witless romantic comedies ever dreamed up, despite a dozen or so amusing lines of dialogue. Ayres, looking and acting like a cut-price Jack Lemmon, emerges as a prize schnook and Taylor as a juvenile idiot, while Garson (with hints of her gracious performance in Mrs Miniver) rises above it all. Norman Z McLeod directed and co-wrote it, MGM produced it. Both should have known better.
