This farcical British comedy revolves around a Nazi plot to kidnap Prime Minister Winston Churchill from a country house, and is based on a play that ran in the West End for nearly a year during the height of the Second World War. Raymond Lovell stars as the fiendish German agent posing as a peer of the realm in order to get closer to the PM, but his dastardly scheme begins to unravel when the real lord's niece shows up in the company of three sailors. The succession of unlikely coincidences and logic-defying twists are far from sophisticated, but this is nonetheless a cheery little piece of feel-good wartime propaganda. Director Lawrence Huntington stays true to the film's stage origins, and the cast features several names from the original theatre production.
