In this compelling TV drama, Brian Dennehy gives a no-holds-barred performance as the tough-talking union man who works his crooked way to the top. He's more than ably supported by a top-notch cast that includes Jeff Daniels, Maria Conchita Alonso and Eli Wallach, though Alastair Reid's direction is inevitably constrained by the TV-movie format. And, if the deals Presser strikes with the Mob and the way he manipulates the FBI seem a little larger than life, just remember that this is based on the true story of one of the most powerful US labour leaders of the Ronald Reagan era.
