Drama starring Will Rogers and Vera Allen. A Connecticut doctor sets tongues wagging in his small town when he takes an interest in the welfare of a widow.
The folksy wisdom and whimsical humour of Will Rogers seem hopelessly old-fashioned today, but in the first third of this century he was one of the biggest stars in the States. The first of his three collaborations with that master of Americana, John Ford, sees Rogers playing a small-town GP making light of his limited resources and the suspicions of would-be patients, including Andy Devine, Louise Dresser and Rochelle Hudson. Ford, who was a sucker for this brand of homespun philosophising, loved the film, although modern audiences will probably find it has slipped the wrong side of twee.
