A group of scientists band together to save the world from mutated killer tomatoes.
Behind an irresistible title lurks one of the worst movies ever made. Deliberately planned as a bad movie from the start, the fact that director John DeBello totally achieves his aim is the only good thing to say about this dire spoof, in which giant tomatoes rampage through San Diego to avenge fruit mistreatment. It's all downhill after the fun title song, as intentionally awful special effects (the tomatoes are beach balls), ludicrous dialogue and low camp turns this parody of monster movies into a mind-numbing splatter bore. Still, it did spawn three sequels (one of which starred George Clooney) and a television cartoon show.
