These Old Broads

The producers must have thought they were on to a winner when they succeeded in assembling the "superstellar" cast for this TV-movie comedy. But the harder the veteran quartet tries, the more their shtick begins to grate. As the ageing starlets forced to reunite after the reissue of their 1960s movie becomes a hit, Shirley MacLaine, Debbie Reynolds and Joan Collins sportingly throw themselves into the bitching and hoofing. But Elizabeth Taylor merely settles for hamming it up as the bickering trio's conniving agent, and the musical numbers are drowned out by the sound of a great idea going down the tubes.
