Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Written and produced by Michael Gleason, this was the pilot for a TV series that was dropped almost as soon as its run began. A popular lead in the 1960s in films such as The Birds and Hotel, Rod Taylor was somewhat slumming it here, but he nevertheless gives a committed performance as the head of a pioneering family who ups sticks and treks 2,000 miles across unknown territory in search of free land. Although not a patch on such wagon-train classics as Red River or Bend of the River, this is a well-mounted adventure, with Blair Brown and David Huddleston backing Taylor to the hilt.
