This is one of those early 1960s capers in which a provincial innocent, in this case a young Jane Fonda, heads for the big city and falls madly in love with life in the fast lane. It's a delightfully skittish romp in the Big Apple, with just enough zest in the fruit, that shows off Fonda's charismatic youth to best advantage. Peter Nero's memorable score is the perfect complement to a film that harks back to those curiously winsome days when sex came tiptoeing out of the celluloid closet and everyone thought they were being madly daring. It all seems rather sweetly innocent now.
