Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

You don't expect a film produced for the Disney Channel to be loaded with significance. But this TV movie throws out so many intriguing themes, it's disappointing to see it settle for the usual feel-good resolution. Neglected by her father (Jere Burns), who's become a workaholic following the death of his wife, a young girl (Lindsay Lohan) hopes a book of spells will enable her to resurrect her mother. However, she succeeds only in animating her fashion doll, played by Tyra Banks, who is solely intent on enjoying herself. It's an amiable sitcom, but it could (and perhaps should) have been much more potent.
