Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

In this chop-socky sequel to his earlier Hong Kong smash hit, Jackie Chan - who made his Hollywood breakthrough with Rush Hour - directs, co-writes and stars as the policeman who combines the attitude of Dirty Harry with the agility of gymnast Olga Korbut. Like many Hong Kong action films, its breathless pace cannot prevent it from becoming a drag, and the soundtrack seems to have been recorded in a cardboard box. Police Story III: Supercop followed in 1992, a surprise to all since Chan's fondness for performing his own incredible stunts should have killed him years ago.
