Sci-fi action thriller starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. While on a military mission to rescue hostages from a Mexican drug cartel, sniper Quinn McKenna witnesses the crash landing of a Predator spaceship. But his encounter with the beast attracts the attention of a shady government outfit that has more to its agenda than meets the eye.
Co-writer/director Shane Black's reboot of the alien-hunter franchise may be a wallow in 1980s pulp nostalgia, but it succeeds thanks to plenty of tough-guy machismo, spectacular stunts and heaps of gore. Logan's Boyd Holbrook stars as ex-army sniper Quinn McKenna, who witnesses a spaceship crash and sends some alien-tech back to his autistic genius son (Room star Jacob Tremblay). However, an upgraded, super-bad Predator and a sinister government agency are also searching for it, prompting McKenna to seek help from a dirty half-dozen of military loose cannons and a biologist (Olivia Munn). The plot is an incoherent mess but at least there's never a dull moment in this big, busy and brash adventure.
