Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster is woefully miscast in this TV movie, as the singer who rises to stardom under the guidance of voice coach Peter O'Toole. Director Anthony Harvey (best known for directing O'Toole in The Lion in Winter) manages to throw in every cliché in the book in what was the second reworking of the 1931 John Barrymore movie. This might be worth sitting through just to catch an early performance from another best actress Oscar winner - The Piano's Holly Hunter.
