Accused of Murder

Nightclub singer Vera Ralston is the prime suspect for the murder of shady lawyer Sidney Blackmer in this poverty-stricken programmer thriller from Poverty Row Republic studios. David Brian, the investigating detective, is convinced of her innocence, while his sergeant Lee Van Cleef thinks she's guilty. A have-it-both-ways ending is the nail in the coffin of a tale which, considering that it was adapted from a novel by the usually reliable WR Burnett (who also co-scripted), is surprisingly weak.
