Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

The concept is familiar - a mismatched duo must bury their differences to survive in a hostile environment - but the striking locations rise it above the norm. Sam Waterston is the American pilot who forms an unlikely alliance with a Russian flyer (Alexander Potapov) when the two become stranded in the Arctic wastes. Based on the novel by James Alridge, this is essentially a two-hander which recycles more than a couple of well-worn clichés. However, director John Berry skilfully evokes the desolation of their predicament.
