Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Almost ten years after appearing in Clueless, Brittany Murphy is still playing the dizzy dreamer - only here, her fluffy character is, unbelievably, the associate producer on a daytime talk show. Swallow that and you'll swallow any of this far-fetched nonsense, as the nosey 20-something is egged on by a co-worker (Holly Hunter) to delve into the secrets held within her boyfriend's electronic organiser. Although Murphy never really convinces, her clumsy charm is engaging, while the role of self-serving confidante showcases Hunter's underused aptitude for comedy. But what starts off as a cute if dumb exploration of female insecurities soon becomes increasingly cringeworthy, as Murphy's obsession with her beau's exes turns from curiosity into inadvertent cruelty.
