Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

Just when you thought the Highlander saga couldn't sink any further into diluted caricature and empty rock-video flash, along comes the terminally dreary second sequel to Russell Mulcahy's inventive original. This time immortal Christopher Lambert must battle ancient evil magician Mario Van Peebles over the fate of his adopted son in a flaccid fantasy that makes a lot of noise but not a lot of sense. Shifting between centuries, locations and wild plot points with about as much dash as a snail, director Andrew Morahan desperately tries to disguise the fact that there's nothing to the story at all by stumbling from one lamebrained action set piece to the next. Boring cornball claptrap.
