Comedy starring George Formby. A humble mechanic builds his own bikes and enters himself in local competitions; his ultimate dream is to win the Isle of Man TT race.
Based on a story by Walter Greenwood, author of the Depression classic, Love on the Dole, produced by influential British movie entrepreneur Basil Dean and directed by Gracie Fields's husband Monty Banks, this was George Formby's debut for Associated Talking Pictures. Unfortunately, the on-screen activity never quite lives up to this impressive roll call, with Formby struggling to impose his inimitable personality on a plot that resembles an episode of the Wacky Races cartoon series. Sabotaged throughout the Isle of Man's famous TT Races, George eventually wins the day, thanks to the love of Florence Desmond and the assistance of a donkey. Amiable, but unremarkable.
