Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Amy Fisher was a cause célèbre in the early 1990s and her case achieved a level of public notoriety that was unusual considering no one was actually killed. Fisher shot the wife of her older lover, and being a good-looking nymphette was prime front-page fodder, especially since the area in which the incident happened was Long Island. The scandal had repercussions: on three different US TV networks, three different made-for-TV movies of the case premiered within six days of each other, and this one is by far the best of the batch, with Drew Barrymore in Bad Girls mode as the sexpot Amy, and Anthony John Denison as her lover, one Joey Buttafuoco. The tale is told here, Rashomon-style, from differing points of view, but it's still a pretty sleazy story.
