Summary

Drama starring Rutger Hauer, Kathleen Turner and Powers Boothe. Jim Malden is a man with a mission, a conservationist dedicated to protecting the eggs of one of America's rarest birds, the bald eagle. Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

In director Philippe Mora's bizarre drama, Rutger Hauer plays a damaged and eccentric Vietnam veteran who has chosen to live as a recluse on a remote island. There he turns into a bird fancier and is pitted against Powers Boothe, who has been hired by a rich egg collector to steal from Hauer's nest of eagles. Add to this unlikely scenario Kathleen Turner, who initiates an improbable love triangle, and you have a picture as risible as the moment when Hauer rides his white steed across the island, dressed as a pirate and carrying a crossbow. It's even stranger than Hauer's subsequent Guinness ads.
