Summary
Marianne falls in love with a con artist who has a hidden agenda.
Marianne falls in love with a con artist who has a hidden agenda.
An extrovert and flirtatious small-town girl (Sidney Fox) falls for a big-city swindler (Humphrey Bogart). The couple elopes, with unhappy consequences for her, but her actions lead to the happy union of her respectable rejected suitor (Conrad Nagel) and her demure sister (Bette Davis). This flaccid drama, directed by Hobart Henley for Universal, is notable only as marking Davis's screen debut - though it gives little intimation of the fact that she wouldn't be playing the subsidiary good girl for long.
