Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

In the penultimate feature in the RKO series, the studio at last realised the wisdom of casting Ralph Byrd as Chester Gould's comic-strip detective. Byrd, who had previously played Tracy in four Republic serials, seemed born to play the role, and audiences warmed to him. Here he's surrounded by RKO contract players like Jack Lambert and Ian Keith in a quickie that fairly zips through its running time. Though unadventurous in its B-movie plotting, it's a perfectly respectable addition to the series.
