Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

Although loosely based on a real-life heist that took place in North Carolina in 1997, this comedy caper delivers neither laughs nor anything resembling a compelling story. Zach Galifianakis plays a shambling, inept security guard who becomes involved in the robbery of his own company. Unfortunately for him, he falls in with double-crossing Owen Wilson, who uses Galifianakis's crush on co-worker Kristen Wiig to manipulate the hapless stooge for his own ends. Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess manages the impressive feat of misjudging almost every element of the movie: from the baffling miscasting of Wilson to a criminally misjudged gross-out sequence, it's a symphony of comedic bum notes. Only Kate McKinnon, as Galifianakis terrifying fiancée, delivers the odd laugh, but she seems to be acting in a different film entirely.
