What happens when an American family gets two trees that grow spendable money.
Ditzy suburban housewife Irene Dunne, married to Dean Jagger, finds that two trees she had planted in her garden are sprouting dollar bills. The Treasury Department pronounces the money legal tender, and she embarks on a massive spending spree, only to discover that the bank notes, like leaves, fade and die. A whimsical and repetitive little fable, directed by Arthur Lubin, that falls somewhere between a feel-good movie and a simplistic moral tale. It was an unworthy final film for Dunne, one of the screen's most gracious, well-loved and versatile of leading ladies during the 1930s and 1940s, who went into retirement after this.
