Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

This adventure featuring the bearded backwoodsman dabbles in native American folklore and cultural piracy, as well as the usual outdoor heroics, and is rather dark and involved for a family film. Aided by a grizzly named Samson, Tom Tayback (as Adams) takes on both the perils of Dark Mountain and the villainous Joseph Campanella to secure the liberty of a kidnapped professor and ensure the safe birth of the new chief of the Bear People. Director John Huneck makes effective use of the landscape, but all the stuff about spirits, superstitions and shamen will probably go over the heads of younger viewers.
