Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

A number of films were made in the early 1990s on the subject of children accusing their fathers of sexual abuse. By far the best was Aline Issermann's A Shadow of Doubt, which set the pattern for others to follow, in which the wife is torn between believing her child or the man she loves. While a tad overlong and erring on the side of melodrama, this Canadian TV movie approaches the topic with some sensitivity and insight, with Art Hindle and Vanessa King impressing as the accused and his 11-year-old daughter. Kate Nelligan provides typically solid support.
