Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

This youth movie is set over Labor Day weekend on the mythical Route 66. Willem Dafoe - still trying to get his career into top gear - plays a cool dude who hitches a ride with university dropout Judge Reinhold. When their car collapses in the one-horse town of Bowman, Arizona, they hang out with the locals, cause some trouble, play pool and finally enter a drag race, winning it despite the presence of a scorpion in the cabin. Almost every cliché of the youth movie - from The Wild One to Rebel without a Cause to American Graffiti - is tossed into the blender, together with a nonstop soundtrack of jukebox faves.
