This French farce is an abrupt shift in tone from the shadowy pessimism of the first part of Lucas Belvaux's trilogy. But while it serves as pleasing comic relief between its two weightier companions, their intensity only emphasises this tale's triviality and over-reliance on unlikely contrivance. That said, Ornella Muti revels in the role of the suspicious bourgeois whose conviction that husband François Morel is sleeping with his secretary and/or her teaching colleague (Dominique Blanc), prompts her to hire smitten cop Gilbert Melki to tail him. However, Morel is even more amusing, as he becomes convinced Muti is masterminding a murderous conspiracy against him.
