Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

This tale of elderly suburban commandos went straight to video in its native Australia, but the presence of British TV's Alf Garnett himself, Warren Mitchell, may attract the curious over here. Mitchell, Bill Kerr and Martin Vaughan play a trio of Second World War veterans who, with their equally gung-ho wives, take on the drug dealers and corrupt coppers who have infested the Sydney estate where they live. Director Ted Robinson conveys his message in sledgehammer terms, but his emphasis is firmly on the comic, as the vigilantes go into battle against a foe that turns out to be every bit as ruthless as their wartime enemy.
