Review
One of Japan's biggest budgeted movies, though it seems much of the cash went to the all-star (and mostly American) cast than on the special effects, many of which belong in the cheaper Godzilla movies. Possibly to try to attract a wide audience, the movie is not content to focus on the few survivors of a worldwide plague but packs in everything else under the sun, from forced prostitution to nuclear holocaust. The results don't completely make sense, especially in prints that cut about an hour from the running time. Some striking visuals and seeing all the badly cast stars (including Chuck Connors as a British submarine captain!) provide the main curiosity value.
