Murders in the Zoo

Lionel Atwill overacts a storm as a sadistic zookeeper using the animals in his care to kill anyone who so much as looks at his gorgeous wife, Kathleen Burke. Lions, snakes and alligators are called on to do their worst by the insanely jealous warden, but it's the moment where he sews up the mouth of one paramour which provides the most chills. Randolph Scott is the hero and Charles Ruggles provides the comic relief in a menacing melodrama considered highly shocking and tasteless in its day.
