Three years before The Last Seduction, Peter Berg was already getting involved with the wrong kind of woman in this thriller with noir overtones. Berg plays Henry, an ex-con, gambler and all-round slacker who reluctantly takes a job with gangster Terence Stamp's outfit. Unfortunately, Berg's current lover Michelle Johnson is also bestowing her sexual favours on the villainous Stamp. The dénouement is, as you might imagine, not for those of a delicate disposition. With MK Harris and Stamp on board, this should have been a lot better. But the plot developments are utterly predictable, and Johnson - the catalyst for the violence - remains little more than a cipher.
