Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

In 1976, hard-up, much-married Melvin Dummar learned he had been left $156 million in the will of a man he barely knew. And all, according to this delightful film from Jonathan Demme, because Melvin treated the reclusive tycoon Howard Hughes to a slice of real life just when he needed it most. Jason Robards is typically bluff as the bedraggled eccentric, and Paul Le Mat is so good as the amiable everyman that it's hard to fathom why his career never really took off. But then, Mary Steenburgen's Oscar for best supporting actress didn't exactly land her on the A-list, either.
