Comedy starring Barbra Streisand and Michael Sarrazin. Pete and Henrietta (Henry) are a struggling young couple in need of extra money. When Henry has the not-too-bright idea of borrowing from a New York loan shark, things go disastrously wrong.
One of those specially constructed star vehicles (but this time the wheels fell off with Barbra Streisand on board) that arrived with much ballyhoo and crept away shamefacedly after a major critical mauling. Streisand can be very funny if given a tight script, but here she looks bewildered and lost as a debt-ridden wife forced to mix in unsavoury company. Director Peter Yates, who gave us such gems as Bullitt and Eyewitness, seems to have left his film-making skills at home. The entire movie smacks of shoving a famous name into an ill-conceived and hastily put together dollar earner. Except it wasn't.
