Review
A real brawler set in the Australian outback. Life as a sheep-shearer can be rather monotonous, but hard man Jack Thompson has enough star power to keep us watching this tale of rivalry and hardship. He's chief shearer and troubleshooter, calling the men out on strike when the bosses try to introduce non-union labour. There's real integrity in Ken Hannam's direction, as he takes us right into the heart of a world very like that of the Wild West where rivalries are fuelled by booze and life is a real struggle. Men at work have rarely been so convincingly portrayed.
