Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

In one of his finest, least heroic performances, Gregory Peck plays an exiled former Spanish Civil War guerrilla who is drawn into a confrontation years later with brutal police chief Anthony Quinn. Based on a novel by Emeric Pressburger, Behold a Pale Horse sees High Noon director Fred Zinnemann once again juggling moral dilemmas with violent action. However, Omar Sharif is miscast as a young priest who spouts the message of virtue versus vengeance a little too blatantly to hold the attention.
