Comedy drama starring Alan Alda and Ann-Margret. Steve and Jackie Giardino are single again. For too long, sour Steve has been more concerned with his work than his wife, so now they are both thrust into new lives neither is prepared for. While Steve dyes his hair, smartens up his act and hits the singles scene with menopausal vigour, Jackie yearns for something more fulfilling.
Alan Alda, still trying to break free from his M*A*S*H* TV image, here takes control of his career by writing and directing, as well as starring in, this comedy drama. He and his screen wife Ann-Margret - looking as wonderful as she did on Elvis's arm in 1964's Viva Las Vegas - divorce after more than 20 years, leaving Alda to drink and wisecrack his way through a series of one-night stands before both he and Ann-Margret start up relationships with younger people (Veronica Hamel and John Shea). It's all sub-Woody Allen stuff, but the performances are amiable enough.
