Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

In a packed field, this is a serious contender for the unwanted title of worst British film ever made. Over 40 years after he helped adapt Sidney Gilliat's story for the Will Hay vehicle Ask a Policeman, director Val Guest returned to the scene of the crime for this shudderingly awful remake, with TV comedy duo Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball as the bumpkin bobbies whose station is reprieved when a gang of villains moves into their manor. The supporting cast contains such usual suspects as Roy Kinnear, Eric Sykes and Jon Pertwee, all of whom might have been better occupied doing community service.
