Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

A bizarre but eminently watchable fantasy, saved from ignominy by the splendidly tongue-in-cheek acting of Clifton Webb and Edmund Gwenn as a pair of unlikely angels sent to watch over the unborn baby of Joan Bennett and Robert Cummings. What distinguishes this tale from other less successful "visitors from above" sagas is the spicy, gloriously witty script and the deft, easy direction of George Seaton. The late 1940s were the heyday of this kind of fantasy movie and For Heaven's Sake is a typically slick example of the genre.
