Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Workhorse director Richard Thorpe had just completed some uncredited second unit work on MGM's epic Ben-Hur when he was sent by the studio to Britain and Holland to direct this bland B-movie. Based on a Victor Canning caper, this story of a horde of Nazi diamonds lost since the war stars Robert Taylor, also slumming as the heroic ship's skipper who rumbles the plot. Everyone apart from Taylor speaks in the thickest of European accents, while the cast includes that legendary actor/manager, Donald Wolfit.
