Race-against-time thriller starring Judith Light and Pamela Reed. Two women - one desperate to track down her missing daughters, the other determined to halt a lethal virus outbreak - find that their quests coincide in Africa, where they make a terrifying discovery
Compared with a big-budget project such as Outbreak, this is more like a mild bout of flu. It shares the same basic plotline of the Dustin Hoffman vehicle - a race against the clock to track down a lethal virus that could result in widespread deaths - but the execution is hindered by the small-screen frame and the casting. TV-movie regulars Judith Light, as the military medic, and Pamela Reed, as a campaigning journalist, are the stars, but neither is particularly believable, and it's left to the likes of Philip Bosco and Bill Nunn to steal the acting honours.
