Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

A witty parody of a James Bond credits sequence immediately sets the tone for director Tom McLoughlin's slick and exuberant Jason sequel. Cleverly mining the undercurrent of humour inherent in the gory series, McLoughlin makes sure Jason's roller coaster tracks are well-oiled and run smoothly in this vigorous, vivid and creepy instalment. When Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews) digs up his grave to prove Jason's really dead, a bolt of lightning hits the corpse and turns it into a zombie. Cue inventive deaths galore and textbook scares that still elicit a shiver or two.
