Summary
A group of scientists on a remote island realise their atomic testing has backfired when they are attacked by giant brain-eating crustaceans. Roger Corman's much-loved sci-fi horror might not be scary, but it never fails to entertain. Richard Garland, Pamela Duncan and Russell Johnson are among the cast trying to escape the claws

Atomic testing on a remote Pacific island causes the crab population to mutate into giant monsters in one of cult director Roger Corman's earliest successes. The King Kong crustaceans look shoddy and laughable (you can often glimpse the stuntmen's feet under the costumes), but Charles Griffith's compact script successfully mines the concept for keen menace and gruesome shock. (The crabs decapitate victims and eat the heads in order to assimilate their brain power.) Lunatic but fast-moving fun.
