Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

After a multi-tasking film career, Benjamin Barfoot makes a promising directorial debut with this competently made horror lark written by friend and lead actor Danny Morgan. Still a virgin on the eve of his 30th birthday, nerdy Jim (Morgan) is taken out clubbing by his cocky best mate Alex (Misfits star Michael Socha) to get laid. Then, lo and behold, it looks like they've hit the jackpot with sisters Kitty (Kelly Wenham) and Lulu (Georgia Groome), but once in the girls' creepy ancestral country home it becomes clear these femmes fatales have another shocking agenda entirely. The early laddish humour and hilariously awkward chat-up lines set the scene perfectly for the cartoonish bloodletting to come, with the top-notch, easy-going performances ensuring most of the jokes and jolts hit their target. More spoofy than spooky - although the nod to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is fan-boy gold - this flippant frightener is agreeably lowbrow B-movie fun.
