Western starring Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Legendary outlaw brothers Frank and Jesse James decide to retire, but find their criminal past hard to leave behind.
This compulsively watchable TV movie has Johnny Cash and his fellow Nashville "outlaw" Kris Kristofferson as the Old West's two most notorious brothers. Both stars are a little portly and long-in-the-tooth for the roles, but they play well together, though the screen is hijacked by their fellow Confederate Willie Nelson as, yup, a Confederate general. Stranger casting comes with Johnny's wife, June Carter Cash, playing his, and of course Kris's, mother! The strikingly rich photography - unusual in movies made for TV - is by the superb British cinematographer Tony Imi.
