Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Hong Kong-style action meets James Bond in this beautifully crafted adaptation of the cult Japanese comic strip. Enigmatic Mark Dacascos plays the latest in a long line of human killing machines programmed by the Sons of the Dragon Society to respond to hypnotic signals. Because he sheds a tear after each contract killing, he earns the nickname "Crying Freeman". How he keeps his identity a secret fuels a cranked-up plot packed with inventive explosions, balletic gunplay, hyperkinetic stunts and forbidden love. This is a visually arresting and fresh slant on the usual comic-book capers.
