Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

A duke (Mark Damon), condemned by a curse to roam his castle by night as a growling beast, is set free by the love of beautiful Joyce Taylor and regains his handsome, human identity. A 79-minute Technicolor travesty of the fairy tale immortalised in Jean Cocteau's 1946 French masterpiece, this is substandard in every department. Damon and Taylor are no match for Jean Marais and Josette Day, director Edward L Cahn is no Cocteau and even Jack Pierce's make-up fails to convince.
