Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Say what you like about the much-maligned "quota quickie" (and, to be honest, most of them were pretty dreadful), they proved an invaluable training ground for some of this country's most talented individuals. Director Bernard Vorhaus clearly doesn't fit into that category, but his stars Ida Lupino, then a mere 19 years old, and a scarcely more experienced John Mills, together with then editor David Lean, certainly do. Unfortunately, much of the action is dominated by Henry Kendall as the chemist-turned-sleuth seeking to use photographic evidence to prove Mills innocent of murder. However, the ever-dependable Felix Aylmer helps pep up the court scenes.
