Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Adam Sandler has come on a bit since he made this knockabout sports comedy in which he stars as Happy Gilmore, a second-rate ice-hockey player whose thuggish tactics are the only thing keeping him on the team. When his slap-shot is noticed by Carl Weathers and turned into a golfer's drive, Gilmore sees a way of earning enough cash on the fairway to save his granny's home from the depredations of the IRS. It's typical no-brainer fare, but the slapstick action does raise the occasional laugh.
