Our Score
This quietly affecting French comedy drama stars Audrey Tautou as Nathalie, a young widow who throws herself into her work following the untimely death of her perfect partner, only to cause a sensation by then throwing herself at an unlikely colleague. Markus (Heartbreaker's François Damiens) is balding, a drab dresser and just a bit funny looking - hardly your average romantic lead - yet somehow the damaged belle and the disbelieving bête tentatively make a go of it. But convincing themselves of their budding feelings is one thing; getting others to accept it is quite another. Author David Foenkinos adapts his own bestseller for the screen along with his brother Stéphane and, as co-directors, their sensitivity to the characters shines through. That's helped in no small measure by Tautou's nuanced performance and the many little touches that speak of Nathalie's gradual healing. Poignant and charming, this romance will strike a chord with anyone who has loved and lost, and its optimistic message lingers fondly in the memory.

A woman dedicates herself totally to her job as a way of coping with the sudden death of her husband, until one day, she impulsively kisses an awkward co-worker. A tentative relationship develops between them, to the bewilderment of their colleagues and frustration of her amorous boss. Romantic comedy, with Audrey Tautou and Francois Damiens. In French and Swedish.
