Just like a Woman

Just like a Woman

Robert Fuest (1966)

A Certificate

Our Score
With an adaptation of Wuthering Heights, two Dr Phibes horror movies and the cult TV series The Avengers on his résumé, director Robert Fuest can never be accused of playing safe. He made his feature debut with this 1960s satire about a housewife (Wendy Craig) who rebels against her TV director husband (Francis Matthews). Craig here reveals the comic flair that enabled her to become the epitome of scatty domesticity in sitcoms like Not in Front of the Children and Butterflies. Fuest's script strives too hard to be offbeat, however, notably in the creation of a goose-stepping interior designer.
